Christian Citizenship

The government, along with the family and the church, is an institution established by God (Romans 13:2).

As such, it deserves our engagement. While some argue followers of Christ should not concern themselves with matters of the state or culture, Scripture tells us otherwise. Jesus said if we are “salt” and “light” in society, God is glorified. If we, who personally know the Creator and the hope sealed by the Spirit in our redemption, fail to bring the life-changing Good News out into the world—who will?   While we may not be pleased with certain decisions made by those in authority over us, God still expects us to respect them (1 Peter 2:17) and as good citizens to also convey our biblically based views on the issues to those in the government (Romans 13:5).

Confidence in our government and approval ratings of the president and Congress may rise and fall, but as Christians, we are to work tirelessly to bring scriptural precepts to bear on public policy. That is not our choice; it is our obligation.

To help you introduce more people to the biblical perspective on moral and ethical issues, we have developed the impact bulletin insert/flyer. There will be impact products that address a wide range of contemporary social issues.

The impact resource is full-color and available here as a downloadable pdf. It may be output to a color or black and white printer. It can also be copied to a CD after it is downloaded, so that you can print it at a local copy center. You may make as many copies as you need. While the impact is designed to be copied front and back as a single sheet, it can also be a two-page stapled resource.
