The latest generation of cell phones offers an expanded array of on-board features, some which may put your teenager at risk. New wireless technology allows users to download material, such as digital video content, from the Internet directly to wireless handheld devices, such as the powerful cell phones and iPods.
These rapid advances in wireless technology and mobile entertainment prompted the National Coalition for the Protection of Children and Families
Approximately 79% of all teens (17 million) have a mobile device–a 36% increase since 2005. Most teens have a conventional cell phone, but a growing number (currently 15%) own a smart phone, which have capabilities far beyond those common to most phones introduced just two years ago.
Both the pornographic and gambling industries are anxious to utilize the new platforms the new generation of cell phones provide. All the more reason for parents to understand more fully the power of that new cell phone their child is carrying in their pocket.
