Where is God when I’m scared?

While our family doesn’t “celebrate” Halloween, it is hard to escape the ghoulish scenes and frightening figures that adorn sections of stores we frequent, including the grocery store.

With two children under five years of age, there are plenty of questions to answer. It is natural for youngsters–and even adults–to be concerned about things that they can’t explain or that are out of the norm. With stock market indices on what appears to be an out-of-control roller coaster, many Americans are scared about what their economic future holds.

We worry every though Jesus Himself tells in the Word (Matthew 6:25-34) not to worry. It is not that there is nothing in the world with which we should be concerned, the Bible notes, “Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Instead, the greater issue is where we place our trust. We could sit around all day and wring our hands in despair or we can ask God where we need to be ministering because there is always someone in more desperate straits than we are.

And for some comic relief when we are tempted to be scared, consider spending time with Bob and Larry of VeggieTales fame!

Now available, with special bonus features, is the classic “Where’s God When I’m S-Scared?” on DVD.

The DVD, which focuses on helping children handle fear, includes “Tales From the Crisper”–After watching a scary Frankencelery movie, Junior Asparagus is reminded that there’s no need to be scared of monsters because God is bigger.

When facing a fear or something else that appears far bigger and “badder” than we are, take it to the Father. He can handle it.

VeggieTales’ Where’s God When I’m S-Scared? is available at our familybookstore.net and your local LifeWay Christian Store.
