Living the Kingdom Life

Life is pretty good for most of us, right? At least here in America. Sure, we face our share of difficulties, but compared to citizens of several countries where war and conflict occupies their front yards, openly living out their Christian faith is punishable by death, their rights are stripped from them daily, we have a sweet setup in our nation.

For the most part, we’re safe and comfortable. We have freedom and rights most people only dream of having. We don’t have to worry about walking outside and fearing an attack by marauders. So, here comes the hard question. How long will that last? And should we even be savoring this moment now?

I heard someone recently say that the reason we don’t face more spiritual warfare is because we’re not doing enough to upset the enemy. I truly believe that. We’re not a threat to Satan, so why should he worry with bothering us too much if we’re sitting back and letting him do his work?

This blog isn’t intended to rant and rave about what all we’re doing wrong in America. But it’s purpose is to make us think about what part we’re playing in the spiritual battle for people’s souls across our nation.

“This isn’t your home.” If you’re a believer, then I’m sure you’ve heard that as many times as I have throughout my lifetime. We say that and we hear it, but many of us have gotten rather comfortable in our lives. We’ve blended in with the world. We’ve accepted silence rather than acting on our convictions.

In the land of the free and home of the brave, we’re supposed to live as exiles—just as the Israelites did in Babylon. God told them to live there, plant their roots, raise their families, but know that He had a plan and future for them—that it wasn’t their permanent home (Jeremiah 29:4-14).

What are you doing to bring the kingdom of God to this temporary residency—the places where you live, work, and play? How are you being a threat to the enemy in this spiritual warfare? What are you doing to stir up the battle and fight back?

Don’t become complacent. Don’t wait until the last minute to act. The kingdom of God is busting at the seams where people are being persecuted, harassed, and badgered for fighting this spiritual war. Isn’t it about time we move out of our comfort zones and join them?
