The Basis for Shifting Standards of Right and Wrong
Most of us believe in God, it apparently just doesn’t get in our way of living our life.
At least that’s the upshot of the results from a new study by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life. Nearly all (92%) of those surveyed indicated they believed in God, but just over half (51%) said it was belief in a “personal God.”
The survey of 35,000 Americans revealed roughly three out of every four (78%) believe they are “absolute standards of right and wrong,” with just 29 percent of those questioned in the U.S. Religious Landscape Survey saying they look to their faith to determine the standards.
If the survey results are an accurate representation of the nation’s citizens, a majority (52%) of us rely on “practical experience and common sense” to determine what is right and wrong. Once again, we have to look no further than our culture to see that it makes a difference whose values we are living day-to-day. Our’s or God’s?

From my limited perspective, it would appear to me that indeed the survey is quite accurate. Many who call themselves Christians today or simply not using the Bible and God’s commandments as overarching controls for their choices in life. “The love of many shall wax cold…” We need to fervently pray for a genuine, Holy Spirit revival in our Bible-preaching churches.

Truth is not determined by vote (polls) but the God who is really there knows the truth and insincerity in each of us. We had better look after our own shortcomings than concern about poll results about other people’s beliefs. May God continue to bless those who love Jesus; and have mercy on those who are confused about what is true.

Absolute right and wrong comes form God’s word. If my standards are different then I am the one at odds.

As Christians, we have Christ’s new nature and our old nature battling for control. We choose which nature we will follow in every circumstance. The old nature wants what it wants when it wants it. Christ’s new nature says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Too often we are willing to trade God’s eternal values for momentary pleasures and comforts. Lord, stir us up by Your Spirit to choose your way, and to wait on God to bless us in His perfect way, and in His perfect timing. In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen!

Are we reaping what we have sowed? Christians cannot attack (example)-homosexual ‘marriages’, and look the other way on the issues of other sins listed in 1 Cor. 6:9. The Body of Christ has wounded its authority, in the sight of GOD.1Cor.9:27 The world is not convicted of it’s sin because Christians do not honor GOD’S commands, out of Love and Fear of The Lord. GOD will judge His people first because we should know better. How can we crucify Jesus over and over again, by staying in sin?! GOD help us! Jesus made provision for Christians to be cleansed of sin by conviction in our hearts and asking Him to forgive us.(1 John 1:9)
Isn’t it time to go back to The Author of Right and wrong, and support “GOD’S Rights?”
